We are one year old!

Its my birthday and Im allowed to do as I wish! For several days, this song has been ringing through my ears.
One year has flown past so quickly and I am so grateful for how the company and students have progressed.I would never imagine the company would be where it is now if you were to ask me, one year ago.
Some lessons that I learned from one year managing my seminar business:
1) Always get a mentor
When I started the seminar business, I was quite lost and only after, my mentor guided me, I could see how the dots connect together and put together my seminar concept. There are times when i seemed lost in many aspects, from selling, presentation, seminar management, business skills and I signed up for different seminar and coaching. Whenever I hire a coach, the value that I acquire easily covers back the cost of the investment. One thing that I learned: Always find a mentor in the specific skill that you are trying to master
2) Take massive action and learn from your mistakes
I look back at how rapidly my seminar business has grown and it was mainly because I have taken massive action to grow the business. We have an exciting growth plan and this is only the beginning of our growth. End of 2011 and 2012 is going to be way more exciting than the progress than you are seeing currently. And I believe as my mentor mentioned, ” Business has a momentum, the minute it slows down, everyone in the company get bored, including you,” so we keep aiming higher and higher.
People see the glamourous side of the business growth, however they do not see the multiple mistakes occurring behind the scenes. Because we have taken massive action, we have fallen down many times, picked ourselves up, dusted off the injuries and continued walking ahead. One thing that I have learned is “Business is business, never take it personal.”
3) Face your fear
The minute you stop being uncomfortable, is the minute that you stop growing in your business. Therefore, I always aim to be slightly uncomfortable most of the times. There was a period of being comfortable in my business and Anne Mckevitt came along and literally kicked my butt and got me going. These changes will be occurring in later part of the year and 2012. Can’t wait to share them with you once they are ready.
In essence, I am grateful for how my business has grown because we have seen many students improve and progress within one year and I have one of the most amazing teams that will go out to help our students and its great to also see their progress as we grow together in this journey.
We are going to announce a special surprise for our students and non-students by next week. Look out for it.
Wishing you a lovely week ahead.
