Making The Leap From Employed To Entrepreneur Mindset

mindset

When I made the transition from employee to entrepreneur, it was exceptionally challenging because I had to shift from an employee to an entrepreneur mindset. Today I will share the 3 key mindset shifts has helped me successfully build my business.

These are the three mindset shifts required to become a successful business person:

1) Acquiring A CEO Mindset

In order to build a business, you need to think and behave like a CEO. The main role of a CEO is to bring in the sales and you need to keep focusing on building the business, while outsourcing the rest of the operations to your team.  As an employee, your main role is to run the operations (unless you are in sales). When you start your business, you must shift most of your focus to marketing your product. And create systems to let the business run by itself.

Sadly, most business owners focus on perfecting the product, when they should spend most of the time marketing instead.

2) There Are No Limits

As a business owner, your business will reflect your mindset. It is easy to suppress your negativity when you are a employee because you are dependent on a group’s responses. However, as a business owner, your business will reflect your mindset.

When I started my business, I faced many challenges and felt frustrated. Through meditation, I became more aware of my thoughts and also realized that the business grew with my positive insights. So I started focusing on myself and sort out my fears bit by bit.  Interestingly, my business grew leaps and bounds as my mindset shifted. If you thinking of starting your business, be very aware of your thoughts because it will show up in your business.

3) Take The Leap Of Faith

When you are employed, you always prefer to take the safe journey because you are afraid of being scolded by your boss. You are trained to “do it right”, rather than the “doing the right things right”, even at the cost of making mistakes. As a business owner, you have to keep taking action, even if it is wrong, to learn.

Many of my successes came from taking many wrong turns and learning from them. In fact, the bigger the fall, the bigger I rise subsequently. As a business owner, if your fear of being wrong paralyzes you, you will be soon be passe as your competitors will surpass you because they are taking a lot more action than you.

If you are thinking of embarking on your own business, be very aware of your thoughts because it will show up in your business performance.
